Hurricane Festival

From the 18th to the 20th of June our German company DIGI TV was involved in HD production of the Hurricane Festival in Scheeßel. Hurricane is one of the country’s largest festivals, attracting over 70 000 visitors and featuring 80 artists and bands from Germany and beyond, including The Strokes, Mando Diao, Beatsteaks, The Prodigy and Billy Talent.

DIGI TV produced the signal for 5 LED Screens as well as the TV signal. Action from the festival’s two main stages was produced using 13 cameras, two camera cranes and a rail system in front of both stages. To deliver this, DIGI TV had 39 employees and freelancers on site. In addition to production, a multi-track recording from both stages was created, video from which was distributed through tapeless workflow via EVS XT2 and EVS XFile.

Eurovision Song Contest 2010

For this prestigious evening, Mediatec Broadcast Norway supplied Eurovision special events with an MCR/playout facility including 6 VTR machines, 1 Final Cut edit station, and 4 standup positions with audio, camera and lighting for both day and night shooting. The production also allowed for the possibility of 4 simultaneous outputs on fiber to EBU for onward distribution.

The entire operation lasted 8 days and with approximately 35 different TV channels using the service, it was a hectic period, to say the least.

On leaving the venue after the event en route to South Africa, Eurovision Head of Operations Mr. Bruno Beeckman commented, “Thanks for a fabulous job - flawless. You deliver!”

Mediatec Broadcast completes takeover of STV Facility

On Wednesday 14th of April, Mediatec Broadcast Sweden AB signed the final agreement with STV Holding A/S to take over 100% of the shares in the Danish company STV Facility A/S.

The deal between Mediatec Broadcast and STV Holding has its basis in profitability issues at STV Facility – a consequence of increased competition and reduced volumes. The company has also invested heavily in High Definition equipment, an investment that has not been as profitable as anticipated.

´This deal strengthens our cooperation with Mediatec Broadcast and gives the STV group the power to focus on other areas of our operations’, says René Szczyrbak, owner of STV Holding.

‘The takeover of STV Facility represents a strengthening of both our business and our organisation’‘, explains Paul Henriksen, Director Mediatec Broadcast. ‘We will increase usage of STV’s HD technology by making it more accessible for existing customers and by profiling it to new customers’.

STV Facility and Mediatec Broadcast ApS will market themselves under the Mediatec brand name. STV Facility’s operations will shortly move from Odense to Copenhagen.
