Election Day in Denmark

From the point that the ruling party announced the general election in Denmark, it was only 3 weeks until the election was held.

That put the pressure on the opposition as well as the local broadcasters. This time, Mediatec also felt the pressure as the Danish public broadcaster, Danmarks Radio, largely relied on Mediatec to cover a major part of the outdoor events during the all evening election special on election night, Thursday 15th September.

In less than 2.5 weeks Mediatec planned, organized, equipped and crewed 5 large OB-units with more than 60 cameras, 10 EVS’s, large lenses, radio links and hundreds of other details. Among the details where the planning of parking two of Mediatec’s largest OB-units in the yard of Christiansborg, where the parliament resides, to cover party festivities and hold announcer positions.

This immense task was possible to perform in such a short time thanks to Mediatec’s skilled and dedicated project managers, engineers and operators. With a large fleet of high performance OB-units under Mediatec’s control, the planning was made a little easier but it was still quite a jigsaw puzzle, with lots of pieces that needed to find their right place.

Technical coordinator for the election, Linus Malmborg, says -“We used equipment from all over the Mediatec group and doing this during the same time as the IBC exhibition took place didn’t make it easier”.

Summing it up, it was a very successful operation with an equally very happy client. And the opposition won by just a few percent.
