Prior to the 2006/2007 season, the Swedish Hockey League tasked Mediatec with providing official statistics for all matches. The result was ISA, our in-house developed statistics system that is constantly developed to meet the needs of the league and their clients.
During every match, between 6 and 8 operators feed in data on everything from shots at goal to time on the ice for every player in the ISA system. Every incident is sent direct to Mediatec’s server where it is gathered and published. This allows TV graphic staff, commentators, Internet match reporters and even teams themselves to follow every detail of every match and identify patterns in play.
As well as Elite Series matches, ISA is used to deliver statistics for TV broadcasts of other hockey leagues and the World Championships.
Within ISA, a general data management structure called Ramses is at work – another in-house developed solution by Mediatec. Ramses allows the system to be applied to sports other than hockey. For example, a football version has been used to present graphics for the home matches of the Swedish national team.
