Mediatec Broadcast completes takeover of STV Facility

On Wednesday 14th of April, Mediatec Broadcast Sweden AB signed the final agreement with STV Holding A/S to take over 100% of the shares in the Danish company STV Facility A/S.

The deal between Mediatec Broadcast and STV Holding has its basis in profitability issues at STV Facility – a consequence of increased competition and reduced volumes. The company has also invested heavily in High Definition equipment, an investment that has not been as profitable as anticipated.

´This deal strengthens our cooperation with Mediatec Broadcast and gives the STV group the power to focus on other areas of our operations’, says René Szczyrbak, owner of STV Holding.

‘The takeover of STV Facility represents a strengthening of both our business and our organisation’‘, explains Paul Henriksen, Director Mediatec Broadcast. ‘We will increase usage of STV’s HD technology by making it more accessible for existing customers and by profiling it to new customers’.

STV Facility and Mediatec Broadcast ApS will market themselves under the Mediatec brand name. STV Facility’s operations will shortly move from Odense to Copenhagen.

An unforgettable inauguration!

On the 24th of February, the new E-hall at the Stockholm Exhibition and Congress Centre was inaugurated. To strengthen relations and the centre’s brand, clients were invited to an inspiring event that showcased the centre’s characteristics and flexibility. 900 participants experienced the new hall through four themes arranged by Boden & Co Kommunikation AB with Mediatec as total solutions supplier of sound, lighting, picture and camera technology and crew.

Beyond the Meetings of today
The meetings industry’s first “Mega freeze mob’ was arranged in conjunction with insights and studies into the future of meetings and information. Mediatec also presented technology for virtual meetings in which a person is ‘moved’ from one place to another in 1:1 scale. This was visualised through actors who performed the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet.

Beyond Entertainment
Dance group Bounce served up a suggestive show of world-class standard featuring Trampwall, Schizo and Stage Drop, amongst others. Lighting design expressed itself through 46 moving units and was devised by Mediatec’s Christian Irestad.

Beyond Interaction
In an unfurnished room where the atmosphere was delivered through wall projections, an MJ (Mood Jockey) created an event together with participants.

Beyond Conventional
A 60 metre stage through the entire venue, film and TV furniture from the SVT warehouse, modern backdrops, plexi-seating, luxurious chandeliers and interesting ornaments gave guests a dining environment far removed from that of an ordinary event. Entertainment was provided by 5 unconventional acts, all with the signature of Stina Oscarsson and Viktoria Dahlborg. A visual communication of form, colour and artistry.

ISA – Statistics System

Prior to the 2006/2007 season, the Swedish Hockey League tasked Mediatec with providing official statistics for all matches. The result was ISA, our in-house developed statistics system that is constantly developed to meet the needs of the league and their clients.

During every match, between 6 and 8 operators feed in data on everything from shots at goal to time on the ice for every player in the ISA system. Every incident is sent direct to Mediatec’s server where it is gathered and published. This allows TV graphic staff, commentators, Internet match reporters and even teams themselves to follow every detail of every match and identify patterns in play.

As well as Elite Series matches, ISA is used to deliver statistics for TV broadcasts of other hockey leagues and the World Championships.

Within ISA, a general data management structure called Ramses is at work – another in-house developed solution by Mediatec. Ramses allows the system to be applied to sports other than hockey. For example, a football version has been used to present graphics for the home matches of the Swedish national team.
