The 63rd Frankfurt International Motorshow has recently ended. Over the Press Days, Mediatec supplied a complete press conference solution for Volvo Cars with no less than one 3-camera and 6 VB channel production in full HD, three simultaneous picture productions, prompter system, PA system, speaker lighting and show lighting comprising of twenty four VL 3000 and six VL 2500 adjustable lights. We handled the press conferences using only 10 people - a uniquely low number for such a production and the result of multi-tasking within the group. Another noteworthy point concerning our role at Frankfurt was the supply of our in-house developed distribution system for programs, images and sound for journalists at the event.
For the new Media Wall in Volvo’s exhibition space, Mediatec supplied seven LED screens comprising Chromatek 4 mm and Barco Olite 612. On top of this, Mediatec also supplied seven hundred Olite 510 Pucks for the flooring and complete HD broadcasting technology for all screens. These comprised a Medialon Control System controlling four Doremi HD servers and two Hippotizer media servers.
But it doesn’t end there. For Volvo’s exhibition space, Mediatec also supplied 520 m of trussing, 40 motors, 254 daylight lamps, 1200 m2 of fabric, a D&B speaker system and a brand new creative solution involving roof channels that hid the large amount of adjustable lights and speakers used for press conferences.

When the Eurovision Song Contest finally came to Helsinki in 2007, the contest already had over fifty years of traditions. For the first time, ESC was produced and broadcast in High Definition.
For Massteknik, part of Mediatec Group, this was the sixth ESC assignment. The event took place at the classic Hartwall Arena. All tickets were of course sold out, but the contest was broadcast to over a hundred million viewers. That’s a situation where absolutely nothing must go wrong.
And it didn’t, which wasn’t exactly a coincidence. Massteknik had 19 staff members located in Helsinki for a month, rigging all our equipment. Preparations were meticulous, to say the least.
A total of 340 m² of LED screens were used. 125 m² of Barco Olite were installed in the stage floor, and 200 m² of Barco MiTrix in the back-drop. This was a world first; never before had that many MiTrix modules been interconnected. It didn’t stop here, but this certainly paints the picture.
Mediatec Group was also represented by Prisma.
