The Museum of World Culture

The Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg, Sweden, was opened in December, 2004. One of the original exhibitions was Sister of Dreams, about the borderland between life and death. It was built around the cultures of people living in the rain forest on the banks of Orinoco, Venezuela. The exhibition remained at the museum for four years.

Primetec, part of Mediatec Group, was trusted to realize the visions of the exhibition architects. Our installation placed the visitor right there in the middle of everything. The experience was altered, depending on where in the exhibition area the he or she was moving. A waterfall in the background. Rattling snakes and snapping branches. Birds being roused when the visitor came too close.

Primetec’s ambition was to create an audiovisual installation that would feel authentic. We literally wanted to fulfill the museum’s vision of making people feel at home across borders. And we did.
