Melodifestivalen, 2011

Melodifestivalen is an annual music competition organised by the Swedish public broadcasters SVT. The competition determines who will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. Since 2000, it has been the most popular television program in Sweden.

Mediatec will deliver technical crew and advanced video technology to all five semifinals, which will be held in Luleå, Göteborg, Linköping, Malmö and Sundsvall, as well as the final in Stockholm. The logistics and planning process proves a crucial part of the project.

In total, Mediatec will supply 160sqm’s of LED screen to the TV-show as well as projectors, plasmas and other video technology together with an experienced team managed by Lasse Mossberg.

It takes nine hours for eight stage hands and four technicians to finalise the buildup of the main delivery LED screens.

The screens are an important part of the stage design. The popular Flexi Screen will be formed as a 24 meter long horse shoe which will frame the stage. Another LED screen, called Spider F30, will be integrated into the floor, the total size being 52sqm. Mediatec will also supply eight hanging screens of the R16 brand, the total size being 65 sqm.

Mediatec also provide plasmas to the Viewing rooms and Green rooms, as well as two video projections of 27 sqm each, for the benefit of the live audience.
