TV viewers in +210 million households in 135 countries and territories had the opportunity to tune in to BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen where 12.232 spectators filled the Royal Arena on November 3rd. Online 5.7 million viewers watched the tournament live with a total viewing time of +100 million minutes. On social channels, the event reached a total of +120 mil impressions. The Danish Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, opened the event with a speech that has created a lot of buzz in the esports business.
Mediatec Denmark is proud to have delivered 450 sqm LED screen, including all rigging with hundreds of meter truss, audio, video, together with various lighting solutions that created massive visual effects throughout the arena, and ensured no-one missed any of the heart-racing action. In addition, NEP Sweden provided their latest Outside Broadcast unit, the UHD1, for the production of razor-sharp pictures in 1080P and high-quality audio for the worldwide TV-audience. As the name implies the unit is capable of producing 4K content and is frequently used for various sporting event across Europe. For the Blast Pro Series, we used 14 Grass Valley 4K cameras with Broadcast quality 4K lenses.The signals where encoded and fed to the internet platform “Twitch” and also distributed for regular broadcast via SNG. Light and set design by Kasper Lange. In addition, Mediatec Denmark supplied the backstage/VIP and press area with multiple LCD screens, laptops, lights, and more.
The BLAST Pro Series continued in the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal, the 14-15 of Dec, where NEP provided a similar setup as in Copenhagen but this time with one fo the company's new large IP-based OB-units from our UK office.
